Competition entry the redevelopment of Hythe Memorial Hospital. PWP Architects were approached to provide a concept design proposal for the redevelopment of Hythe Hospital. The existing hospital facilities were dilapidated and provided little inspiration for visitors and employees. The innovative approach sought to build upon a "sense of place" and was represented by a forward thinking and thoughtful proposal . Architecturally, The proposals centre around reflecting and mimicking the mature vegetation within the new forest site, maximising internal-external connections and delivering the NHS's ethos of "health and well-being". The internal spaces are organised around a central drum, providing excellent clinical functionality and creating a user friendly environment for services such as dementia care; zones are visually identified by colours and letters.
