Originally the coastal villa of the Bankes Family of Kingston Lacy, the former Manor House Hotel is the work of notable British architect Charles Barry and is located on the eastern edge of Studland village, with views across Studland Bay, near Poole harbour.
In 2013 Ben Pentreath, in association with PWP Architects and working with The National Trust, gained Planning and Listed Building Consent to demolish modern extensions and erect a two-storey extension, and further construction of dovecote guest suites, treatment room, garden store and glasshouse, with alterations to the existing coach house for use as plant and administration. In 2014, after opening, the hotel almost immediately won the Sunday Times’ ‘Hotel of the Year’ award.
Since PWP Architects’ initial involvement, we have been asked to work on the staff facilities, a summer house, and the extension of the restaurant built in 2014.
